Through my life, I have always been around children. They have always gravitated towards me even without me going towards them. I have found that children like me and the enjoy my company and want me around them. Since I was very young I would play teacher and my cousins, or friends would be my students. When I was in middle school we would help the elementary school with anything they need and I would help the students do their homework. When I was in high school I was in several organizations that had to do with children and teaching, one was the Academy of Careers in Education, which I was allowed to go for 3 hours every day and become a teacher assistant at my local elementary school. The other was Texas Association for Future Educators, which allowed me to help my high school teacher and local community. This upbringing opened my eyes and guided me to where I needed to go and where I am now, I am thankful I am now doing several observation hours at several different schools. I am at 4 different schools, each is for a different class I am taking for this semester at UTEP. Each one is different than the next, I am at 3 different districts and they may all do things a little differently but they are trying to work hard to make the students succeed. El Paso has given me the opportunity to have a diverse group of students with diverse cultures. All the different experiences I gain throughout my academic career and soon to be my career has allowed me to become aware of the cultures we have and be respectful towards everyone and give every student not only an equal opportunity but an equitable one as well.
